Stay and Pray Week 2

We welcomed parents and families from Year Two and Year Three to join our weekly Class Prayer. We enjoyed opening our prayer doors, providing time of reflection and prayer for our families in the Season of Lent. The children enjoyed reflecting on the key teachings of Lent, including the importance of saying sorry for our sins and asking for forgiveness, leading activities such as writing star prayers, which are op

Science Week

On Tuesday, we transformed our school hall into our St. Greg’s Science Showcase. Every class enjoyed visiting the museum as part of their Science lesson that afternoon to learn the many ways things change and adapt, from houses in our local area to the season in God’s creation. We were blown away by the scientific reflections, research and creativity which was shown by the children.

World Book Day

Thank you to our incredible Pupil Librarians who planned a fun and exciting World Book Day. To begin, we gathered as a whole school for a World Book Day parade; where we were blown away by the amazing creativity and enthusiasm the children had in sharing their characters. We were also excited to celebrate a ‘Remarkable Reader’ award for each class, for the children’s perseverance

Pilgrims of Hope Artwork

The children worked collaboratively together in this week’s Art lessons to create a whole school ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ display. Their work was inspired by CAFOD’s Jubilee Icon, created by Mulugeta Araya.

Poetry Slam Workshop Year 5 and Year 6

This week, Years Five and Six enjoyed a engaging day; participating in a Poetry Slam with poet Emilie Jones, from Authors Abroad. The children wrote and performed poems based on this year’s theme of ‘counting’. They created thought-provoking poems to reflect on the theme in many different ways: moments that count, people who count and celebrating equality.

NSPCC Number Day

Today, we have celebrated NSPCC Number Day. This year, we wanted to come together as a school community by opening our classroom doors, to share our love of number with parents. Thank you to those parents who were able to attend. We hope that you relished the challenge of mathematics and enjoyed it as much as our children!

Year 6 enjoyed dissecting hearts in their science lessons

The children have been developing their knowledge and understanding of animals including humans, with a focus on the circulatory system. This week, the children were set on an investigation to dissect a pig’s heart to identify similarities to a human heart. They did a fantastic job and used exceptional scientific vocabulary throughout their experiment.

Year Two have a visit from Avonvale Vets

This week, our Year Two class had a special visit from a local vet. Enhancing learning in their Science unit, the children had the opportunity to ask the vet questions, learning about her Vocation. They enjoyed practising how to use a stethoscope and how to bandage an animal’s limb. Thank you to Miss Taberner for planning this opportunity for the children!

Reception Class begin their swimming journey!

This week, it was Reception’s first swimming lesson at St. Gregory’s. The children were very excited to begin a seven year journey of building their skills as swimmers. Well done to all our Reception swimmers, who showed bravery and enjoyment in their first session!

New School Lunch Supplier

Children from St Gregory's joined in the annual Shakespeare's Birthday Parade along with other local schools and organisations. The weather was beautiful and all the children made the school very proud.

The 'Bag2School Lenten fundraiser was a huge success; there were an unbelievable amount of donated belongings. Thanks to your support, the PTA have raised £200 for our school, and all of the clothes will be donated to those less fortunate than us. Return to overview

Shakespeare Week Performance

Well done to our exceptional Year Four’s who represented Stratford upon Avon in this year’s Shakespeare Week celebrations.
